Celebrate responsibly when it comes to fireworks
As the long weekend approaches, the Township of Lake of Bays is reminding residents to celebrate responsibly when it comes to fireworks.
Fireworks are only allowed from dusk until 11 p.m. on statutory holiday weekends—and only if there’s no fire ban in effect. Officials urge people to light fireworks in open areas, away from trees and buildings, and to keep water nearby.
Parents are also reminded to supervise kids, and to be mindful of pets and wildlife.
Fireworks violations can be reported through the township’s by-law portal.
For other communities consult with your local fire department.
