The app can help easily find your location in case of emergency
Police and firefighters are reminding residents that knowing your exact location can save precious time in an emergency.
OPP recently responded to a snowmobile crash where two injured riders couldn’t describe where they were on the trail, delaying rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, Muskoka Lakes Fire crews used a drone to locate a man in his 60s stranded in deep slush while ice fishing on Lake Joseph. Snowmobilers were then guided in to bring him safely to shore.
Emergency officials say tools like the free what3words app can help pinpoint your location quickly — especially when you’re on trails, ice or water where landmarks are limited.
