The robotics team is raising funds to be able to compete
Students at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School are raising funds to compete in the 2026 FIRST robotics competition.
The ‘Big Metal-Lakers’ team hopes to raise $25,000 to cover registration, travel, materials, and advanced components. Students spent months preparing—learning to code, build, and operate their robot.
Teacher and mentor Ryan Smith says students, even with little prior experience, work together to design and program a robot in just six weeks.
The team will compete in March in Barrie and North Bay, gaining hands-on skills and teamwork experience along the way.
