The bridge is expected to re-open at the end of 2026
The District Municipality of Muskoka has awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the historic Silver Bridge in Bracebridge to Clearwater Construction Inc., marking a major step toward reopening the downtown landmark.
District officials say contract finalization and design staging will begin immediately, with on-site work expected before the end of the year. The bridge will stay closed during construction and is expected to reopen by late 2026.
Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney calls the project “a major step toward returning the Silver Bridge to service.”
The Silver Bridge, built in the 1920s, spans the north branch of the Muskoka River near Bracebridge Falls and remains one of Muskoka’s few remaining heritage truss bridges.
