Work on Bracebridge’s Silver Bridge could begin before the year is out.
The District of Muskoka says there’s strong interest from contractors, with 41 companies having downloaded bid documents and eight attending a recent site visit. The aging bridge was shut down in January after a structural shift was discovered.
Commissioner of Public Works James Steele says a temporary structure may go in first, with hopes of starting that support work this fall.
Bids close August 7, and the goal is to reopen the bridge fully restored and ready for another 20 years.
