Police report that four people were killed in separate crashes on OPP-patrolled roads over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Police say more than 8,800 traffic charges were laid across Ontario during Operation Impact — a national road safety campaign targeting dangerous driving.
Speeding made up more than half the offences, with over 4,500 charges laid, along with 158 for stunt driving and 170 for impaired driving.
So far this year, the OPP has responded to 244 fatal collisions, claiming 279 lives — most of them preventable.
