59-year-old from Milton found dead
On Monday, the Huntsville OPP and emergency services responded to a call on Lake of Bays, near Baxter Lane in Algonquin Highlands, where a man had fallen through the ice.
Witnesses reported the man had been retrieving stakes when he was found floating in the water. Despite lifesaving efforts, the 59-year-old from Milton, Ontario, could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services remind everyone that no ice is safe ice. Always wear proper survival gear, carry a fully charged phone, and let someone know your destination.
