Huntsville to allow taller and denser developments

Friday, 10 April 2026 11:30

In selected areas, developers could increase building heights to accommodate demand

The Town of Huntsville is moving ahead with proposed changes to its height and density policies as it prepares for continued population growth and housing demand.

The updates to the Official Plan and Community Planning Permit By-law would allow for taller and denser developments in select areas, while adding new guidelines to protect views, green space, and community character.

Officials say the goal is to support more housing options and affordability while ensuring new projects fit the town’s long-term vision.

A public information session will be held April 29, with the proposals set to go before Planning Council on May 13.
