The property was purchased for $3.1 Million
The Township of Lake of Bays Council discussed next steps for their purchase of a $3.1 million Logging Chain Lodge, on 2840 Highway 60, Dwight, in the September 9, 2025, meeting.
The 6.86-acre property sits between the north side of Highway 60 and south side of Dwight Beach Road.
Staff said, “The property is an absolute gem and a necessity to add to our parks and Township owned lands,” with favourable possibilities for the Township.
It contains a main lodge, 7 rental cabins, a barn, and a pump house. And the buildings will be evaluated for future use.
According to the staff report, the decision supports the Town’s Economic Development Strategy and Community Improvement Plan.
It indicates that the property was put on the real estate market last spring and “staff realized the potential for the ‘Lodge’ to fit into the many of the Strategic Plans accepted by Council for land use in Lake of Bays.”
The property cost $3,100,000, financed “through a secured fixed rate term loan, over a 10-year amortization schedule,” with payments of $119,905 for the first year, according to the report.
It continues that “Future sales of surplus lands will be used to help offset the repayment.”
“The park project will be funded through budgets brought forward in the 2027 budget and future deliberations,” adds the report.
Staff have been directed to approach Council with a design consultant in the third quarter of 2026 and final designs are scheduled to be presented in 2027.
A public engage page for community feedback will be rolled out in 2026.
