Battery safety is becoming an issue for Fire Depts.
The Bracebridge Fire Department is reminding residents about battery safety as Fire Prevention Week approaches.
This year’s theme focuses on safe charging, especially for devices using lithium-ion batteries such as phones, laptops, e-bikes and scooters.
Fire officials recommend using the proper charger, charging devices on hard surfaces and unplugging them when fully charged.
They also say never use a battery that is swollen, smoking, unusually hot or giving off a strange smell.
