Crews responded to two separate wildland fires last week
Fire crews in Huntsville and Lake of Bays were kept busy last week tackling two separate wildland fires.
The first broke out on Tuesday, October 14, on Stephenson Road 2, burning about two acres. Firefighters worked with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to bring it under control after several days.
Just three days later, another blaze ignited off Limberlost Road, spreading across roughly 19 acres of remote forest. Crews spent three days extinguishing that fire.
Both fires are now out, and no structures were threatened. Officials remind residents that even in fall, dry leaves and brush can catch fire easily—so check the Muskoka Fire Danger Rating before burning.
