Carbon Monoxide Week starts November 1st
The Town of Bracebridge and its Fire Department are reminding residents to protect themselves from carbon monoxide as part of Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, running from November 1st to 7th.
Officials say beginning next year, updates to the Ontario Fire Code will require CO alarms near every sleeping area and on each storey of homes with fuel-burning appliances, fireplaces, or attached garages.
Residents are urged to test alarms monthly, change batteries yearly, and have furnaces and gas appliances inspected by a certified technician.
Carbon monoxide is invisible, odourless, and deadly — exposure can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, or even death.
