No daytime burning is allowed
The fire danger rating across the region, including Kearney, Perry, McMurrich/Monteith, Burk's Falls, and Magnetawan—has been officially lowered to moderate. That means small campfires are once again allowed in most areas, but remember: no daytime burning is permitted.
Local fire departments stress that any open flames must be carefully monitored and fully extinguished after use. Even with the rating lowered, officials warn that forest fuels remain extremely dry. That means new fires can still ignite easily, spread quickly, and be difficult to control.
Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution with all outdoor burning or forest-related activities. For the latest safety guidelines, check in with your local fire department.
