Local merchants have also reported in increase in counterfeit cash in the area
OPP are warning the public after a rise in fake cash circulating through local businesses.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP says several counterfeit $50 and $100 bills have recently been passed in the area.
Officers say multiple businesses have reported receiving the fake notes, prompting a reminder for cash handlers to check for security features such as raised ink, clear holograms, and proper print quality.
Police are urging both businesses and the public to stay alert, especially when accepting larger bills, and to report any suspicious currency.
Anyone who believes they have received counterfeit money is asked to contact the OPP.
