In addition to the initial $1.2 million, the foundation is asking for $80 per night to run a warming and cooling centre
The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation asked the District of Muskoka for a major financial commitment as it pushes ahead with plans to turn Huntsville’s old FreshCo building into a large community hub.
The group is requesting $80 per person per night to run a new warming and cooling centre, plus a one-time $1.2-million contribution to help launch what it calls The Table Plaza. But when pressed by councilors, the Foundation offered few hard numbers, staffing details, or operational plans behind the ambitious project.
District councillors expressed support for the idea but flagged the scale of the ask — and the lack of clear costing — before any decisions are made. Staff will now seek more concrete information.
