Mayor Justine Leveque resigned due to work commitments
Sundridge council has selected Shawn Jackson as the town’s new mayor. The appointment came during a special meeting on August 5 after Justine Leveque resigned in July due to work commitments outside the area.
Jackson was chosen over fellow councillor Fraser Williamson in a 3–1 vote. Jackson says he plans to focus on strong financial management and steady leadership through the rest of the term.
Meanwhile, council now faces the task of filling Jackson’s vacant council seat, either by appointment or a byelection, in accordance with local rules.
