Mechanical issues scuttled sailings by the nearly 100 year old vessel
Gravenhurst’s iconic steamship RMS Segwun won’t sail this season. Muskoka Steamships says a serious mechanical issue was discovered during a routine inspection just before launch.
Crews had spent months prepping the nearly 100-year-old vessel, and the problem came as a surprise.
For safety reasons, the season has been cancelled, with a full restoration planned for this fall—pending funding.
Passengers with pre-booked tickets will be offered cruises aboard the Wenonah II, which will now sail more frequently, and the newly launched Wanda III will also be available for private events.
