The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has launched school-based clinics offering hepatitis B, meningococcal, and HPV vaccines to Grade 7 students
Starting this week, nurses with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit are visiting schools to deliver routine immunizations for Grade 7 students.
The school-based clinics, which began October 6, include vaccines for hepatitis B, meningococcal disease, and HPV. Health officials say the vaccines are safe, effective, and protect against serious illnesses that can cause long-term complications or cancer.
Consent forms were sent home in September, and families who didn’t receive one are encouraged to contact their child’s school or the health unit.
Students who miss this round will have another opportunity during clinics scheduled from April to June next year.
