Residents are urged to mark areas where milkweed is growing
The Town of Huntsville says that roadside mowing will begin across the municipality on Monday.
The annual program is expected to take about three to four weeks and is designed to maintain clear sightlines for drivers and pedestrians, while also helping improve drainage along town roads.
Residents looking to protect milkweed plants, which are important to Monarch Butterflies, are encouraged to mark them with a yellow ribbon. The town says road crews will make every effort to avoid marked plants, although some may still need to be cut if they are located in areas where safety is a concern, such as inside curves or where visibility is limited.
