The crash left residents concerned over fire protection
Residents in Laurier near South River are raising questions after a fire truck landed in a ditch last month.
At a packed community meeting, the Local Services Board confirmed the driver charged was former fire chief Tim Hollands. OPP say the 52-year-old faces counts of careless driving and operating without an air-brake endorsement, and also received a three-day licence suspension after a roadside test.
The crash on Goreville Road left the community without its only fire truck, but officials say residents remain covered through the Northern Fire Protection Program and neighbouring departments.
