The proposal was withdrawn following public feedback
A proposed AI data centre in Armour Township will not move forward after the developer withdrew the project following a review of required studies and public feedback.
Almaguin Data Inc. says it has decided not to proceed with the Highway 520 Industrial Park facility, which faced growing community opposition, including a petition with more than 1,000 signatures.
The township had been awaiting further technical information on issues such as water use, energy capacity and environmental impacts before any approval process could continue.
Residents who opposed the project are calling the decision a community win, saying it reflects strong local engagement.
