As Ontarians hit the roads for the Labour Day long weekend, OPP are urging drivers to make safety the top priority.
Police say that so far this year, 214 people have died on OPP-patrolled roads, with speeding, impairment, distraction, and not wearing seatbelts among the leading factors. OPP say those causes show up year after year.
Drivers can expect an increased OPP presence targeting unsafe behaviour on one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Officers also remind boaters and off-roaders to wear lifejackets and helmets, and to call 9-1-1 if they spot dangerous drivers.
