Fines can reach $10,000
The Huntsville OPP say they’ve been getting more calls about people trespassing on private property—often wandering, sightseeing, or foraging without permission.
With summer bringing more visitors to Muskoka, police are reminding everyone that entering private land without consent is illegal. Ontario’s Trespass to Property Act allows landowners to post signs or give verbal notice, and violators can face fines up to $10,000.
The OPP are asking people to respect private property and check for signs or get permission before stepping off public land.
