The fire danger rating in Muskoka has been set to HIGH
The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating has been raised to HIGH, prompting officials to urge residents to use extreme caution with all outdoor burning.
Fire officials say small, controlled fires are still permitted in most rural parts of the region, but daytime burning is not allowed in Lake of Bays, and all fires must be fully supervised with proper tools and water nearby.
The rating is based on the Fire Weather Index, which factors in temperature, humidity, wind conditions and recent rainfall to assess wildfire risk.
Officials are reminding residents to check local bylaws before any outdoor burning and to remain vigilant as dry conditions continue.
