The organization says its the start of a collaborative approach to conservation
Muskoka Conservancy is bringing together First Nations and conservation groups to build stronger partnerships around land stewardship.
The group recently held an event called Opening Pathways at the MapleCross–Fraserburg Nature Reserve, with representatives from several First Nations and regional organizations.
Discussions focused on protecting land and water, Indigenous knowledge in conservation, youth engagement, employment and skills development, and opportunities for joint stewardship projects.
Muskoka Conservancy says the gathering is the start of an ongoing conversation about more collaborative and inclusive conservation across Muskoka.
