Madill Pioneer Church re-opens after lengthy restoration

Thursday, 17 July 2025 10:44

About 150 people were on hand for the celebrations

The Madill Church has officially reopened on Sunday, thanks to a major restoration effort led by the Madill Church Preservation Society.

The 150-year-old building was dismantled down to the ground and rebuilt with support from local volunteers, historical societies, and all levels of government.

The group thanked the Town of Huntsville, the local Historical Society, and the federal Department of Canadian Heritage for helping bring the project to life.

Dignitaries were on hand, including MP Scott Aitchison, MPP Graydon Smith and Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock who advised the building would be declared historically significant.

Organizers say the restored church will once again host weddings, funerals, reunions, and community events for generations to come.
