Officials remind people to be prepared before heading out to remote areas
Two rescue operations kept the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department busy over the weekend. On Saturday, crews responded to three people lost on an ATV trail.
It took 19 firefighters and five vehicles—including two UTVs—about two and a half hours to locate them.
Then Sunday evening, crews used boats and the What3Words location app to find a missing woman last seen paddling on the Big East River. She was brought to safety just after 10p.m.
Officials are reminding residents and visitors to be properly equipped and prepared when exploring remote areas.
