Heavy snowfall of 5 to 15 centimetres is expected
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for this afternoon and tonight. Heavy snowfall of 5 to 15 centimetres is expected, with peak snowfall rates reaching up to 4 centimetres per hour.
The snow will move in from Georgian Bay early this afternoon and reach areas like Barry's Bay and Petawawa by evening.
The forecaster says strong northwesterly winds gusting up to 60 kilometres an hour will cause blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially in open areas.
Conditions will taper off late tonight into Tuesday morning. Drivers are advised to expect hazardous conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.
