Smoke may trigger symptoms and pose health risks
Poor air quality is expected across Simcoe Muskoka as wildfire smoke continues to drift into the region. Environment Canada has issued a Special Air Quality Statement warning that smoke in the air may trigger symptoms and pose health risks, especially for young children, seniors, people with chronic illness, and those who spend time outdoors.
Officials are encouraging residents to limit outdoor activities, keep indoor spaces cool and clean, and watch for signs of illness.
The health unit says conditions can change quickly, so check the Air Quality Health Index regularly.
