Wednesday, 12 November 2025 08:23

Homeowners could see increases of $72 per $100,000 of assessment

The Town of Gravenhurst will present its 2026 draft budget to council on November 26, proposing a 6.87 per cent overall tax increase. The $31.4 million operating budget aims to maintain essential services, including road maintenance, fire and emergency response, parks, recreation, and library programs.

The $13.7 million capital budget will fund infrastructure renewal, stormwater management, parks, and technology upgrades.

Urban residential properties could see a 5.5 per cent increase, or about $72 per $100,000 of assessment, while rural homes may see a 5.3 per cent rise, or $60 per $100,000.

Residents can review the draft budget and submit feedback online through EngageGravenhurst.ca or at a public meeting on November 26.

Council deliberations are set to begin on December 9.
