Mayor Heidi Lorenz says the town needs experienced leadership during uncertain times
The local political landscape is heating up as Gravenhurst prepares for the upcoming election. Mayor Heidi Lorenz officially launched her bid for re-election Friday, citing a need for experienced and collaborative leadership during uncertain times.
Lorenz highlighted several key milestones from her past three years in office, including the development of the new Gravenhurst Health Hub and secured provincial funding for primary care. Her platform also pointed to progress in housing, specifically noting new rental developments and the addition of 12 affordable units.
On the transit front, the Mayor noted the expansion of the District’s Demand-Responsive Transit program to Severn Bridge. She also touted improved transparency through a modernized electronic meeting system and the "Stay In Touch" resident portal.
With four new businesses opening downtown just this week, Lorenz says she wants to keep that momentum going. As the race begins, voters will be looking to see if her vision for continued growth resonates at the polls.
