The District of Muskoka is preparing to review a long-term plan that could shape how waste is managed across the region for the next 30 years.
Council will consider recommendations in the Solid Waste Master Plan at a June 15 meeting. The strategy focuses on reducing waste, increasing diversion from the Rosewarne landfill, improving services and ensuring long-term sustainability.
Proposed changes include phased improvements between 2026 and 2035, modest increases to waste management fees, and the introduction of a bag-tag system designed to provide a more flexible and equitable approach to garbage collection and disposal.
