The Dept. has already responded to several fires this past week
The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is warning residents to be extra cautious with outdoor flames as wildfire risk in the area climbs to High.
In just the past week, crews have responded to several human-caused fires that could’ve been prevented. Fire Chief Gary Monahan says careless burning, unattended campfires, and discarded smoking materials are major contributors.
The department is urging residents to follow FireSmart Canada tips — including cleaning up yard debris, trimming grass, and moving firewood away from homes.
Daytime burning is banned, and all fires must follow local bylaws.
