The rain will be followed by a flash freeze and high winds
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement calling for rain tonight into Friday, bringing 10 to 20 millimetres of precipitation.
A strong cold front will push temperatures below freezing Friday, turning rain into flurries and making roads and walkways icy and slippery.
Winds will shift from the south to the west and northwest, gusting 60 to 80 kilometres per hour, with lake-effect flurries and snow squalls possible off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Winds are expected to ease Friday evening, though gusts may continue past midnight.
