The alerts on radio, TV and mobile is set to go off Thursday afternoon.
Don’t be surprised if your radio suddenly interrupts our regular programming Thursday afternoon — it’s part of a scheduled emergency alert test.
Ontario will test the Alert Ready system at 1:55 p.m., with the message broadcast over radio and TV stations and mobile devices across the province.
The test is designed to make sure alerts can reach the public during real emergencies and to remind listeners what to expect.
Officials say the system is only used in serious situations, including natural disasters and threats to public safety.
