Rodents across Canada predict an early spring
It’s Groundhog Day across Canada, and the predictions are in. In Bruce County’s Wiarton Willie emerged this morning and, according to tradition, forecasted an early spring. Quebec’s Fred La Marmotte agreed, also calling for warmer days ahead.
Meanwhile in Nova Scotia, Shubenacadie Sam’s annual prediction was canceled due to winter storm warnings, but folklore suggests an early spring there as well.
Across the border, Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter for parts of the U.S.
So Canadians may be heading for an early thaw — unless you take your cues from the Americans.
