Crews from Huntsville, Port Sydney and Hillside attacked the blaze
Fire crews in Huntsville were called out early this morning after reports of a fast-moving structure fire involving two neighbouring homes.
The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department says the alarm came in just before 5 a.m. on June 5th for a fire at the intersection of Lorne Street South and Minerva Street West. When firefighters arrived, they found flames showing from the outside of both homes, along with a vehicle parked between the properties also on fire.
Crews from Huntsville, Port Sydney, and Hillside stations responded with more than 20 firefighters and several apparatus, quickly launching simultaneous attacks on both structures. Firefighters also reported hearing smoke alarms inside the homes as they entered.
The fire remains under investigation and officials say more details will be released when available.
The Fire Dept. is once again reminding residents to ensure smoke alarms are working and to have a home escape plan in place, stressing the importance of getting out and staying out in the event of a fire.
