Oxygen Canada News is reporting that Premier Ford is considering Aitchison for the job
Ontario Premier Doug Ford is reportedly considering former Huntsville mayor and outgoing Conservative MP Scott Aitchison for a new role as strong chair of the District of Muskoka.
The position would give its holder expanded powers over regional administration, senior appointments, budgets and certain bylaws.
The province is introducing strong chairs in several regions to speed up housing and infrastructure decisions. But Muskoka officials have raised concerns about protecting local decision-making.
Aitchison announced September 30 that he plans to leave federal politics. His appointment has not been officially confirmed.
